Outside the Neighborhood News
Wind Turbines:
The response for our mailing was terrific and approximately 300 letters were turned over to the Department of interior during the public hearing in July. Our public officials throughout the South Shore also voiced their opposition at the hearing. The Department of Interior should be rendering their opinion in early 2007 on the project.
Building Projects/Code Requirements:
Since the last newsletter there has been several projects where the Civic Association has met with the developers and real estate agents reviewed on Fox, Biltmore, and Sea Breeze. The results of the meetings were favorable, and we were abler to mitigate the impact. Please remember when and if you ever receive a variance notice, contact the Civic Association so that we can assist you, help avoid conflict with your neighbors and get the best possible resolution.
As a reminder, Town Ordinances prohibit the parking of BOATS on lawns. All boat storage must be on paved areas only. There is no parking of Commercial Vehicles on the roads overnight, along with no vehicles longer than 20 feet and 8 feet tall in your driveway. ALL special use permits and Mother/Daughter permits must be renewed every 3 years.
Road Construction:
The reconstruction of the Beach Road Peninsula is moving forward. To avoid some of the problmes we ran into during the Alhambra Road project, please attend this month's meeting to voice your concerns and opinions. I will then relay them to the Town.
Community Service:
If you are looking for a community assistance project for school or scouts, we are in need of an individual to label our storm drains (glue on a medallion) that drain in to our canals and bay. We are also looking for an individual to assist with an energy conservation survey project. Finally, there is an exciting project to be announced at the meeting and 1 or 2 individuals to assist with it would be great.
Welcome!
